The Brenau Golden Tigers (28-23) improbable run through the SSAC Championships came to an end Saturday morning in Rome when they lost to Lee University (31-20)by a score of 6-0. The Tigers had knocked off second place #19 Faulkner and then polished off Emmanuel to open the tournament, but lost a tough 1-0 decision to #9 Shorter on Friday night to get to Saturday morning's elimination game. Brenau had six hits in the game, including a 2-3 performance from Nicole Burt. Katie Hulsey (1-3), Tori Fobb (1-4), Amanda Bills (1-3), and Hillyer Flynt (1-3) accounted for the other hits in the game. Pitching duties were shared by Marisa Litster and Missy Herren, who both pitched well, but an 11 hit effort by Lee proved to be too much. In the championship game, regular season winner Shorter defeated Lee 6-1.
