Tigers Volleyball Runs Record to 3-0

The Brenau volleyball team is off to a 3-0 start after polishing off LaGrange in straight sets 25-21, 25-21 and 25-19, and following that up with a three game decision over Tennessee Temple 25-10, 25-11 and 25-7 on Saturday in the Brenau gym. In the first match, junior Audra VanArsdale led the way with 4 kills, 15 assists and 6 digs, but she had plenty of help. Freshman Kelsey Aley had 8 kills, 3 digs and 2 blocks, and sophomores Courtney Frady and Meredith Hardin recorded 7 kills apiece. Karen Green, a junior, played her usual steady game with 5 kills, 1 assist, 2 aces, 5 digs and 2 blocks. Freshman Kerry Abernathy had 9 assists. Brenau came from behind in the third game after getting down 10-15 to pull away with the win. In the second match of the day, the Golden Tigers took control early and dominated their opponents from Chattanooga. Junior Shantoria Mayes had the match of her career with 9 kills, 2 blocks and 3 aces. She also led 5 girls who had 100% hitting accuracy. VanArsdale was steady with 4 kills, 18 assists and an ace. Freshman Alexis Arthur had 4 kills, as did Green, Frady and Aley. Another freshman, Beth Hays chipped in with 3 kills and 3 aces. The Tigers will travel to Reinhardt next Tuesday for their first conference match.
