The Brenau volleyball team began the 2008 season in impressive style with a three game sweep of Spelman College by scores of 25-12, 25-10 and 25-17. Juniors Maida Smajic, Karen Green and Audra VanArsdale led the way for the Tigers in a match that saw all 13 players on the roster gain playing time. Brenau set the tone early by racing out to a 6-1 advantage in game one and cruising through the first two games without being threatened by the opposition. After a 10 minute intermission, Spelman came out hot and raced to a 6-0 lead before the Tigers recovered to tie the game at 9-9 and then gain control to close out the match. One big improvement for Brenau was consistency in serving, recording only three service errors the entire match. Coach Meredith Matthews was also impressed with the effort, noting that no balls hit the floor without effor being made.
