Gonzalez Leads The Way in Marietta

The Brenau cross country team participated in the Southern Cross Country Challenge Saturday in Marietta and came away with a 4th place finish out of 10 teams entered. Freshman Maria Gonzalez (Lawrenceville) led the way for the Golden Tigers, finishing 12th in a field of 72 runners and recording a time of 22:24. Close behind her was Sophomore Monica Muchene, who ran her best time of the season at 22:46 in 19th place. Senior Audra Cochran, who had her tonsills removed 10 days ago, was next at 23:45 and 33rd place. Shkurte Ejupi, who does double duty in cross country and tennis came in at 24:10 (37th), and Hillary Corey (24:59 and 45th place) was the last scoring runner for Brenau. Also competing was Diana Cardenas (26:35/57th), Chelsea Forsthoff (26:55/59th) and Julia Ferriera (29:19/69th).
