Methodist youth group from Armstrong Chapel in Cincinnati Ohio enjoyed a week of summer fun in the Northeast Georgia Mountains. Ranging in age from 7th grader to high school senior, some 70 kids checked in to Forrest Hills Resort in Dahlonega, Georgia to spend a week exploring Northeast Georgia. On day trips they toured Dahlonega, Gainesville, Helen and Clarkesville, Georgia.
While summer fun was the mission, giving back in the form of community service was just as important. The group visited a senior citizens home in Gainesville and helped out with chores. They also did some home repairs and construction for a family in need.
As for outdoor adventures the youths participated in speed boating at Lake Lanier Islands in Gainesville, horseback riding at Sunburst Stables in Clarkesville, and, in Helen, they went mountain biking through the Chattahoochee National Forest with Woody’s Mountain Bikes.
Outings and activities of this type go a long to promote well-rounded young adults. “We love sharing the North Georgia Mountains with folks, especially young people,” said Woody of Woody’s Mountain Bikes. “Lessons and memories from days spent this way will last these kids a long time. We are pleased to have Armstrong Chapel back again this year.”
