WHO — The Clean Air Campaign, in partnership with the region’s transportation management associations (TMAs) and RideSmart, the region’s rideshare service, will recognize metro Atlanta’s outstanding workplaces for commuters at the ninth annual PACE Awards. Award-winning employer programs demonstrate innovation and commitment to reducing traffic and improving air quality.

The 2008 PACE Awards are sponsored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and WABE 90.1 FM.

WHY — With high gas prices here to stay -- and memories of last month’s gas shortage on the minds of many commuters -- carpooling, teleworking, riding transit and other commute alternatives have taken on heightened importance. More than 1,450 employers and property management companies across the region have programs in place to help employees make use of these and other commute alternatives. The PACE Awards recognize the best of these voluntary employer-based programs in metro Atlanta. Eleven awards will be presented in seven categories.
