The Gainesville Police Investigating Attempted Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault

The Gainesville Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault that occurred on Thursday, June 26 at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of Mill Street and Patricia Drive.

The victim in this incident is identified as Steven Farmer, 52 years old of Gainesville. The victim reported that two black males requested a ride in his taxi to the incident location. After arriving one male exited the taxi and the other remained inside. Both males displayed handguns and demanded the victim’s money. The male inside the taxi struck the victim in the head with the handgun and then also exited the vehicle. Once both males were out of the taxi the victim fled the scene and notified the police. No money was taken and the victim reported a minor injury to his head.

One male was described as wearing a black tee shirt, 6 to 6 feet 2 inches tall, medium build, and approximately 25 years of age. The second male was described as wearing similar clothing and having a piece of cloth over his face.
