The Gainesville Police department is investigating a one vehicle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon at 1:19 p.m. at a private residence on Christopher Court.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Ford Windstar Minivan parked at the residence was knocked out of park by a two year old child that was in the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled backwards out of the carport striking the owner of the vehicle who was standing behind it.
The victim is identified as Gladis Salazar-Maguna, 43 years old of Gainesville, GA. The victim was conscious and alert at the time of emergency personnel’s arrival on scene. She was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries she received in the crash.
At this time it is unknown why the child was in the vehicle or if the vehicle was running at the time it was knocked out of park.
A portion of Thompson Bridge Road was closed for approximately 15 – 20 minutes to allow for a landing zone for the helicopter.
