The Gainesville Police Department Investigates Another Theft

Published Oct 20, 2008

The Gainesville Police Department is investigating another theft case surrounding a request to cash a lottery ticket for person(s) identifying themselves as illegal immigrants.

The victim in this case, identified as Hector Cruz-Dominguez, reports that he was approached by a Hispanic Male and a Hispanic Female in the parking lot of Lowe’s located on Skelton Road on October 16, 2008.  Mr. Cruz-Dominguez reports that the persons asked him to cash in a lottery ticket for them since they had no valid identification.  The suspects advised Mr. Cruz-Dominguez that he would need to secure some of his personal funds to cover associated fees that would be levied for the lottery winnings and in exchange for his assistance he would be given a portion of the lottery winnings. Mr. Cruz-Dominguez reports that the male suspect called another male who verified the ticket as a winning ticket.  Mr. Cruz-Dominguez then agreed to assist the suspects and provided $2,200.00 to the female suspect to cover the fees.  Mr. Ortiz and the suspects then drove to Walgreens on Shallowford Rd. where the female suspect feigned an illness stating she needed Mr. Cruz-Dominguez to go into the store to obtain some medication.  Mr. Cruz-Dominguez exited the suspect’s vehicle and the suspects drove away taking his money.  They were occupying a green, newer model Mustang.

They are described as follows:

The Hispanic Female is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall weighing approximately160 pounds and has light red/blonde hair with a skin pigment condition around her mouth/chin.

The Hispanic Male is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall weighing approximately160 pounds with dark hair and moustache.

These suspects are believed to be the remaining two suspects involved in the theft case reported on July 23, 2008 and released with a photo on 10-08-08.

The third suspect is described as a hispanic male of medium height and weight.

Anyone with information on these suspects or anyone who may have been a victim of these suspects is asked to contact the Gainesville Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division at 770-534-5254.
