Gainesville Police are investigating human skeletal remains that were discovered this morning around 9:20am by city workers in a wooded area near the intersection of Pine Street at Summit Street. The remains will be sent to the State Crime Lab to determine how long they have been there and possible cause of death.

We do not know at this time, if the remains belong to a male or female. We will be looking through missing person reports to assist us in the investigation.

We do not know if foul play is involved at this time.

The incident is still under investigation by the Gainesville Police Department, Criminal Investigation Division.
