Georgia DOT announces overnight and daytime lane closures this week on I-85 northbound from just north of the I-985 exit to State Route 20 in Gwinnett County.
“DOT contractors resumed work this week on I-85 from I-985 to State Route 20. As weather permits, weekdays this week daytime lane closures will occur from 8:00pm overnight to 3:00pm as crews work on the shoulder of the interstate. The inside or left lane will be closed as crews work. Please bear with us as we finish up. There is still some work to do on the drainage system and on the shoulders of the interstate along this project,” explained Russell McMurry DOT District Engineer.
Delays are expected in the area each day as this work occurs. The new lane was added to the outside of I-85 northbound and will be an exit only lane to State Route 20.
This project in on I-85 NORTH only; no work will occur to I-85 southbound. The 2.23 mile long project completion date is April 30, 2008 and its construction cost is over $10.4 million.
