New Signal Operational Next Tuesday, 19th SR 13 @ Hilton Drive in Gainesville

Published Feb 15, 2008

Georgia DOT announces a new traffic signal at State Route 13/Atlanta Highway and Hilton Drive in Gainesville. The signal is in test mode now and weather permitting should be operational Tuesday, February 19th.
“Each intersection goes through an intensive review to determine if the intersection meets the Federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal.  The intersection of State Route 13 and Hilton Drive met the requirements. Testing of the signal is underway. If the testing goes well and weather permits, the signals will be operational by next Tuesday,” said DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry.
If weather is inclement, the signal will be turned on Wednesday, February 19, 2008.  DOT and the Gainesville City Police will monitor the area to ensure that drivers are following the new stop situation.
“Please slow down through the area and use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too! We don’t want you to be part of a crash because you weren’t paying attention and didn’t notice the new traffic signal,” said DOT Board Chairman Mike Evans.
Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this project.
