The latest H.E.A.T. Advisory from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety calls for a mid-summer crack-down on illegal speeders on Interstates, U.S. Highways and state route corridors across Northeast Georgia. Local law enforcement agencies in North Georgia will turn up the H.E.A.T. on illegal speeders and drunk drivers.  Offenders will be ticketed for aggressive driving violations like tailgating, illegal lane changes, red-light running and other dangerous high-risk driving habits.

FROM GEORGIA to the NORTH CAROLINA STATE LINE
 H.E.A.T. TARGETING SPEEDERS on GA HWY365, US441 & I-985
Three simultaneous mobilizations will be coordinated on GA Hwy365 and I-985 through Habersham and Rabun Counties.. And on US441 through Banks, Habersham and Rabun Counties.  H.E.A.T. Units will patrol all three major routes, from Northeast Georgia all the way to the North Carolina state line.  

Traffic Enforcement Units from seven Northeast Georgia law enforcement agencies: Including Hall, Habersham, Banks, and Rabun County Sheriff’s Offices.. State Troopers from the GSP Gainesville and Toccoa Posts..  and police from Baldwin and Gainesville PD and other local municipal police departments (TBA).

Latest data shows unsafe and illegal speed rank among the top three causes of fatality crashes in Georgia. “Summer is the deadliest driving time on our highways,” says GOHS Director Bob Dallas. “These tough speed enforcement measures are designed to modify bad driver behavior, prevent crashes and save lives in Northeast Georgia.”
