Chris Strickland proposes comprehensive voting record reform as a response to the local GOP's denunciation of Bob Vass' Clerk of Court bid.
Strickland, a candidate for State House District 25, will propose a bill that seals a person's voting record from the public. This bill will make it illegal to identify if the person voted in a Democratic or Republican primary. Only the act of voting may be recorded for posterity, but not the party identification of the individual voter.
"Bob Vass is a former two-term sheriff in Hall County and a qualified candidate," said Strickland. "For the GOP to accept a donation from Sheriff Vass, give him their blessing as a candidate, and then pull the rug from him a week before the primary? Unbelievable."
"Your voting record is a highly personal issue. Your voting choice should be between you and God- not Paul Stanley or Tommy Sandoval."
While the timing of the denunciation is suspect, so is the composition of the GOP Executive Committee that produced it. Sandoval, a key member of the Executive Committee, is a paid consultant for Vass' opponent, Jennifer Gibbs.
"If they had any ethics, they would've made Sandoval abstain from the vote. Instead they pocketed Bob's money, smiled, and then stabbed him in the back before the ink was dry on the check."
