The Northeast Georgia Historical & Genealogical Society and the Hall County Library System are pleased to announce a workshop specifically targeted to those researching Scottish and Irish heritages. The Ulster Historical Foundation Workshop will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 in the meeting room of the Spout Springs Library located at 6488 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch. Participants may begin arriving at 8:30 a.m.; the workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. The registration deadline is Wednesday, October 1st. Space is limited.
The workshop will be led by Brian Trainor who has served as Research Director of the Ulster Historical Foundation. Trainor has served as Director of the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland and Chairman of the Irish Manuscripts Commission. He has also held a lecturing post at Queen’s University in Belfast and a fellowship with the Institute of Historical Research in London. Leading the workshop with Trainor will be Dr. William Roulston, Research Director of the Ulster Historical Foundation. Dr. Roulston has spoken widely on Irish genealogical research both in Ireland and internationally at conferences and festivals. Dr. Roulston earned a PhD in Archaeology from Queen’s University, Belfast, having studied for a BA in Modern History at the University of Ulster.
The cost is only $30.00 for members of the Northeast Georgia Historical & Genealogical Society and $35.00 for non members. The price includes an all day workshop and box lunch.
