The Brenau cross country team opened their season yesterday with the Smart Girls Sweat Race at Mercer University and placed 6th of the 11 teams that competed. Freshman Maria Gonzales posted the top time for the Tigers, finishing the 5K race in 25:41. Senior Audra Cochran came in at 27:04 and was closely followed by Monica Muchene (27:10), Hillary Corey (27:15) and Shkurte Ejupi (27:33) Ejupi also competes on the tennis team at Brenau. The course was a difficult one with lots of hills, and gave Coach Susan McIntyre a chance to evaluate her runners in the early part of the season.
