11Alive, MyAtlTV and Comcast to Make Remaining Falcons Tickets Available to Community Volunteers

Published Sep 5, 2008

WXIA-TV (11Alive), WATL-TV (myAtlTV) and Comcast
announced today that they would purchase the remaining Falcons tickets to their home opener against the Detroit Lions this Sunday, September 7th in The Georgia Dome at 1 p.m. The tickets will go to The Metro Atlanta Chapter of The American Red Cross and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. The Metro Atlanta Red Cross is distributing game day tickets to evacuees of Hurricane Gustav who remain in Atlanta and to the volunteers who worked tirelessly in support of the evacuation effort. Additionally, tickets will go to The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, giving area children an opportunity to see Matt Ryan’s debut as quarterback of the new Atlanta Falcons.

“11Alive and myAtlTV have a long history of celebrating volunteerism with our Community Service Awards. Our partnership with the Falcons and Comcast gave us a unique opportunity to give those volunteers and friends and neighbors impacted by Gustav an opportunity to support our hometown Falcons in person.” said Bob Walker, President and General Manager of WXIA and WATL-TV. “We are also thrilled to help the Boys and Girls Clubs to bring some of our young people to see the kickoff of the NFL season in Atlanta.”

“As part of our commitment to the community, Comcast is proud to partner with the Atlanta Falcons, 11Alive and myATlTV, to provide the volunteers, evacuees and youth of our community with tickets to the Falcons season opener in the newly renovated Georgia Dome,” commented Gene Shatlock, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Atlanta Region. “We are thrilled to provide these tickets, so that they can experience the tackles, touchdowns and fun of the game.”

Atlanta Falcons President Rich McKay offered the following comments about the television partners stepping up to help sell out Sunday’s game.

“We’d like to thank our friends at WXIA-TV, WATL-TV, and Comcast for helping us sell out Sunday’s game,” McKay said. “We are always proud to partner with organizations that seek to improve our community in a positive way. Because of their generous support, many deserving people will have the opportunity to see the Falcons make their 2008 regular season debut.”
