GAINESVILLE, GA - The critically acclaimed Brenau University Chamber Choir and Bella Voce, a choir featuring Brenau students, staff and faculty, will join voices to present a free concert featuring an eclectic variety of historical and innovative carols as well as holiday favorites on Monday, Dec.4, 8-10 p.m. in Pearce Auditorium.
The chamber choir is Brenau´s premier choral ensemble. In addition to annual performances on campus and abroad, for the third time in just five years the choir has been invited to perform for the Georgia Music Educators convention in Savannah in January, one of only three college choirs chosen to perform this year. The group also records a compact disc each year.
Under the baton of Brenau Director of Music Michelle Roueché, The chamber choir will perform selections by Jacob Handl, Morten Lauridsen, and Niccola Porpora as well as traditional holiday music.
Bella Voce is a co-ed choir made up of university students, staff, and faculty. Under the direction M.J. Montague, head of Brenau´s music education program, the choir will be accompanied by hand bells, violin, clarinet, cello, accordion, and guitar. The program will include holiday songs from Russia, Israel, Andalucía, as well as familiar holiday carols.
Parking for the event is available at Grace Episcopal Church on Boulevard, across the street from Pearce Auditorium, and in the parking deck on the corner of Prior and Spring Streets across from the Medical Arts Complex.
