The Gainesville Theatre Alliance (GTA) will hold auditions for their upcoming musical production of Children of Eden, and their WonderQuest (children´s division) production of The Emperor´s New Clothes on August 24-28 on the Brenau University campus in Gainesville, GA. There will also be auditions for the Discovery Series project, Tissue, on August 28. GTA was ranked the top theatre in the state this year by the Georgia Council for the Arts.
Children of Eden has principal roles for 5-7 males, ages 16 to 60; 4-5 women, ages 18 to 30; 2 to 10 children, ages 8 to 12; and 15 to 20 storytellers ages 8 to 80, both male and female. A multi-racial cast is strongly desired. Auditions will be in Brenau University´s Bird Center for Performing Arts, 429 Academy Street (Gainesville), and consist of 30-minute sessions of cold readings and singing immediately followed by a dance audition. Adult audition sessions begin at 6:00pm, Friday, August 24; children´s sessions begin on Saturday, August 25, at 10:00am; with callbacks for adults at 2:00pm. People auditioning should come prepared with sheet music (no CDs or tapes) to provide 16 bars or 30 seconds of singing (no more) and should bring or wear dance attire and shoes. An accompanist will be provided.
Auditions for The Emperor´s New Clothes will be held August 25, 26 and 27, with combined Children of Eden/Emperor auditions at 10:00am on August 25 in the Brenau´s Burd Center (see above), and adult auditions at 5:00pm, Sunday, August 26, in Brenau University´s Pearce Auditorium (One Centennial Circle, Gainesville). Callbacks are Monday, August 27, at 6:00pm in Pearce Auditorium. Casting will be for 4 men, ages 15 to 50; 5 women, ages 15 to 50; and 4 children (either gender), ages 8-11. Auditioners should be prepared for cold readings and stage movement exercises.
Finally, auditions for the Discovery Series project, Tissue, which is the senior thesis project of Brenau seniors Claire Guy and Tiffany Towns, will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, August 28, in the Burd Center for Performing Arts. There will be cold readings for one male and one female role, both for actors age 18 to 30. Tissue is the story of how one woman´s priorities change and grow as the result of her breast cancer.
