Tenor Brian Horne Appears at Brenau University April 14

Tenor Brian Horne, a member of the faculty at Indiana University’s prestigious Jacobs School of Music and formerly a faculty member at Shorter College, appears in concert at 8 p.m., Monday, April 14, at Brenau University’s Pearce Auditorium.

 
The program, which is free and open to the public, will showcase the works of Fauré, Strauss, Lecuona, Kander, Burnette and Stephen Foster.  Horne will be accompanied by Allen Baston on the piano.
 
The concert is sponsored by the Brenau University Chapter of the Student National Association of Teachers of Singing (SNATS); Horne is treasurer of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Foundation, which generates assistance to aspiring and talented singers and teachers.
 
At Indiana University Horne teaches studio voice, diction and pedagogy. He holds degrees from Hiram College in Ohio and Indiana University, and he also once was a member of the music faculty at the University of Missouri. He continues to perform and presents master classes across the country.
 
Horne's former students perform throughout the country and have won numerous state, regional, and national competitions. Horne as a performer has recorded with The Cincinnati Pops, and in 2003 was awarded a Commendation for Special Achievement in musical direction by the Kennedy Center.
