Register Now for Summer Camp at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center

Send your kids to a summer camp where they'll come away with much more than a misshapen clay souvenir. Send them to a unique, wildlife-oriented summer camp experience amid 6,400 acres of forests, fields and lakes, right here in Georgia, at the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center (CEWC) in Mansfield.

Send them to a unique, wildlife-oriented summer camp experience amid 6,400 acres of forests, fields and lakes, right here in Georgia, at the Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center (CEWC) in Mansfield.  Hosted and organized by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wildlife Resources Division (WRD), CEWC offers educational summer camp programs with both the Wild Summer Days day camp (ages 7-10) and the Wild Summer Week overnight camp (ages 11-14). Registration for both camps opens Saturday, March 31.

During the 2007 Wild Summer Days day camp, children will be engaged in the natural world around them. Hiking, fishing, live animal programs and wildlife arts and crafts are a few of the fun activities that will get your child outdoors and learning about nature. Dates for the Wild Summer Days day camp, based on age, are as follows:
· Session I - Screech Owls: June 12-15, Age 7
· Session II - Barred Owls: June 19-22, Age 8
· Session III - Red-tailed Hawks: June 26 -29, Age 9
· Session IV - Eagles: July 17-20, Age 10

The cost for the day camp is $75 per child, which includes instruction, a T-shirt, program materials and a Chick-Fil-A lunch on Friday (campers will need to provide their own lunch Tuesday -Thursday). Day Camp
session times are 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.,Tuesday-Friday.

The 2007 Wild Summer Week overnight camp offers kids a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of wildlife and their habitats. During their stay at the CEWC Lodge, campers will participate in hands-on activities, led by WRD biologists and technicians, focusing on the biology, natural history and management of our natural resources. Through their experiences, kids will take home the tools they need to become lifelong
stewards of the environment.

Dates for the "Wild Summer Week" overnight camp are as follows:
· June 9-13, Ages 11-14
The cost for the entire five-day overnight camp session is $250 per child, which includes food, lodging, instruction, program materials and a t-shirt. Overnight camp begins Monday at 1 p.m. and ends Friday at
noon.
