Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John W. Oxendine said estimates of damage from last weekend’s storms has reached $100 million in insured losses.
“The destruction in some cities, especially Macon , was quite severe,” Oxendine said. “Besides Bibb, we’ve seen significant damage in Carroll, Clayton, Douglas, Laurens, Jefferson, and Johnson Counties . Other counties with storm claims include Emanuel, Glynn, McIntosh, Treutlen, Laurens, Twiggs and Troup.”
The Commissioner’s consumer service personnel continued to assists residents of storm-damaged communities today with claims issues and other insurance questions.
Oxendine reminds Georgians that they can call his Consumer Services Division at 404-656-2070 or, outside the Metro area, 1-800-656-2298, if they have questions about a claim, or if they are experiencing difficulty reaching their insurance company. Phone lines are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
