Arthur Sze is a second generation Chinese American raised in two languages. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley, and he has published eight books of poems, including a collection of translations from the Chinese, The Silk Dragon, and a collection of selected poems, The Redshifting Web: Poems 1970-1998. He is the recipient of the Lannan Literary Award for Poetry, the Asian American Literary Award, the Western States Arts Federation Award, three Witter Bynner Foundation Poetry Fellowships, and two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. He is currently the Director of the Creative Writing Program at the Institute for American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
