Over the past eleven years, Folk Fest has become the largest and most important event in the history of Folk Art. Prestigious galleries and dealers from all over The United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe, specializing in self-taught art, Outsider Art, Southern Folk Pottery and and now with a special emphasis on Antique Folk Art and Anonymous Works fill the cavernous 80,000 square foot facility at the North Atlanta Trade Center. Annual attendance consistently soars past 10,000. Visitors pour in from all over the country to see what is hot in the world of folk art. Folk Fest is the place where museums, prominent galleries, important publications, and serious collectors make their new discoveries. The importance and popularity of Folk Fest has made Atlanta the undisputed, Hub of Folk Art.

Everyone who loves self-taught art, from Hollywood Producers, to housewives will find something unique to add to their collections. The Folk Fest Philosophy of Folk Art for All Folks runs true, as there will be items available for every budget, whether show-goers are looking for a starter piece for $5 or a museum-quality masterpiece for $50,000. We are sure that your readers and viewers would love to learn about and attend this ground-breaking show.

In addition to being able to see and buy the best selection of Folk Art ever assembled under one roof, visitors will also have the rare opportunity to meet these legendary artists at the now-famous Meet-the-Artist Opening Night Party. At past Folk Fests, the public shopped for museum-quality folk art, found hidden treasures and collected a signature and a sermon from Georgia’s own King of Folk Art, the late Rev. Howard Finster.

Now, visitors might expect to meet Woodie Long, Bernice Sims, Charlie Lucas, The Meaders Pottery Family, R.A. Miller, Myrtice West, Sarah Rakes, Annie Wellborn, Purvis Young, Lonnie Holley, and hundreds of other interesting characters who make this art form so much fun
to collect.

This is an exciting time for art in America, especially self-taught art. A visit to Folk Fest is a fun, educational (and well air conditioned) experience for the whole family. One can even pair it up with a trip to The High Museum of Folk Art and Photography, one of the Nation’s premier Museums for this art genre.
