RoadSafe America, Schneider National and nine other leading, safety-conscious trucking companies have formally petitioned the U.S. Department of Transportation to require all tractor-trailers to program their speed-limiters at 68 mph or slower. Although governors are installed on all trucks at manufacture, there is no requirement in the current regulations calling for this equipment to be set at any maximum speed.
Please:
The “vocal minority”, mainly trucking companies who are willing to jeopardize our lives and the lives of their drivers in order to increase revenues, has already been filing comments against this common-sense rule.
We, normally in the “silent majority”, must make our wishes known now. Please take a few minutes to slow down trucks and save lives.
